Explore New Zealand's Favorite City
The tour starts at the Wellington i-site with a city drive up past San Francisco houses to the hilltop lookout of Mount Victoria. We spend 15min enjoying the views whilst we have a chat about the city below how Wellington has evolved to be New Zealand's best city (we might be a little bias). We drive the city greenbelt and visit a film location from Lord of the Rings (for those that are interested), before exploring the suburbs of Island Bay and then out to Owhiro Bay, gateway to the Red Rocks Walk and seal colony. We follow the spectacular South Coast past the surf beaches of Houghton Bay and Lyall Bay to the Miramar Peninsula (almost 35kms of coastline).

Our favorite beach stop is Wellington's favorite, Scorching Bay. We may stop for an explore before continuing our leisurely drive around the northern point of the Miramar peninsular and returning to the city via Evan's Bay, Oriental Parade, Parliament Grounds, the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, the Historic Cable Car and Museum and the Botanical Gardens.

Many tourists like to finish the tour at the Top of the Cable Car and make their own way down to Wellington city. For those that want to be driven, we cruise down the hill, past Victoria University to our start point, the Wellington i-site. Passengers tell us our Wellington Explorer Tour is the best 2 1/2 hours of sightseeing around.

You can use the tour to hop off and to explore at your own pace for Free. This is a great way to fit Wellington into a day. Favourite Hop Off points are Owhiro Bay for the SEAL WALK (2.5 hours return) Tarakena Bay for the Eastern Walkway (2.5 hours) Wellington Zoo for ANIMALS (2.5 hours) or Karori Wildlife Sanctuary (2.5 hours) for birds. When you have finished walking or relaxing we will collect you and finish the remainder of the tour. When join the tour you will be issued a map and timetable which the guide will talk through with you at the start.

Tour Schedule:
Departs the Wellington Visitor Centre 3 times a day, 7 days week. The tour follows a circular route stopping at various locations. You can hop off at listed points and hop on later, following the timetable.
